NSDA 2010 Season Announcement

The National Sand Drag Association (NSDA) has released information in regards to the remainder of the 2010 race season. Due to circumstances out of NSDA’s control, the remainder of the 2010 race season has been canceled. We are saddened by this development, and wanted to inform everyone in a timely manner so that our racers can plan ahead to compete in other events throughout the rest of 2010. Thank you to all of our racers & crew for all of their support.
NSDA Points Are Now Online!

NSDA point series standings are now online and current through race 3 in May. There is a points link on the left side of the page to go to the points page as well as a link at the end of this note. The standings only reflect paid membership racers. If there are any questions, feel free to e-mail web@sand-drags.com.

NSDA Walt's RV Summer Nationals Lives up to Expectations

The 2010 NSDA Walt's RV Summer Nationals at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex definitely lived up to its billing. If you didn't make it out to the race, you missed a lot. Scott Whipple in the CANIDAE Top Fueler not only won his third straight NSDA TF class title to start 2010, but he also set the Top Fuel MPH World Record at 166.05mph. In the Top Alcohol class, defending champ Gary Mink laid it out on the table and took his second win of the season with a great 2.461/134mph shot in the final round. Billy Morris continued his domination of the new Super Eliminator class with his third win of the season running a great 2.84 (2.80 Index) in the final round. The Turbo Flat Fours dominated the Top Eliminator with the Short Fuse team of Brian Chapman outlasting the competition with a sizzling 2.97 (2.95 Index) final round run. Charlie Johnson led the bracket classes by sweeping both the Pro 2 and Pro 3 classes with his Mopar-powered Jeep. Not only did Charlie produce a rare double win, but he also stole the show in Saturday night's wheelie contest (pictured to the left) with a great wheelstand to take the victory. NSDA Announces Eco-Friendly Guildelines for Lake Elsinore

In cooperation with Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex, NSDA has announced some new eco-friendly requirements for racers beginning at the next NSDA event. These include;
- All racers must have a spill kit in their pit area. (Uline.com part # s-12200 or equivalent)
- A tarp needs to be placed under where the race car is parked as well as a drip pan underneath the motor.
- All fuel & oil must be secured within the confines of the race trailer.
Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex is NSDA's new home and we want to be great partners as well as environmentally responsible racers. Thanks for your cooperation.
TF World Record Set at NSDA CANIDAE Pet Foods Nationals
Records were shattered during the 2010 NSDA CANIDAE Pet Foods Nationals at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex in Lake Elsinore, CA. Scott Whipple and tuner Famous Amos Satterlee left everyone in amazement with a string of 2.2 second passes culminating in the quickest run in sand drag racing history with a 2.221 during his final round Top Fuel victory. The run will also stand as the Top Fuel World Record as Scott’s prior 2.255 is sufficient back up for the record to be certified. The action was also hot in the Top Alcohol class. Both Gary Mink and Dan Allen looked to be the class of the field all weekend, knocking on the TA World Record on every pass. In the final, the Allen Racing crew broke a fuel line having to be shut off while defending champion Gary Mink took home his first win of the 2010 season. In the Super Eliminator class, it’s beginning to become routine as it was once again Billy Morris and Paul Taylor facing off in the final round. The outcome would be the same as Billy would have a great reaction time and take home his second SE class win to start the season. Local favorite Paul Graham waded through a tough Top Eliminator class to take home his first NSDA TE class victory at the Inaugural Lake Elsinore race. NSDA Spring Nationals Kicks Off 2010 Race Season

The National Sand Drag Association (NSDA) kicked off its 2010 race season with the Spring Nationals at Dome Valley Raceway in Wellton, AZ. It was a familiar face leading the way to the winner's circle as three-time and defending Top Fuel Champion Scott Whipple's CANIDAE All Natural Pet Foods Team was able to pick through a tough field to take the event victory over John Cadzow in the final round with a booming speed of just over 166mph. Scott also set a new Dome Valley Raceway track record with a 2.300 ET in qualifying. On the flip side was Scott Carroll, who emerged with his first ever NSDA Top Alcohol class victory. In the final round, Scott traversed the 300' track in 2.55 seconds and over 131mph to defeat defending NSDA Top Alcohol class champion Gary Mink. The Inaugural Super Eliminator class victory went to the 2 Dolla' Bill Team of Billy Morris, running a nearly perfect 2.803 (2.80 Index) to narrowly defeat the Outta' Control Dragster of Paul Taylor. Last but not least in the Professional classes was Steve Hoffman's Smooth Sucka Dragster winning an all 4-cylinder final round match up over a red lighting John Cronin.
